So you're interested in Breakdown Bootleg Edition (BBLE), cool!
When you buy Breakdown Bootleg Edition you not only receive a copy of the film on a hand-labeled DVD, but you also receive a non-exclusive license to reproduce or exhibit the film yourself.
What this means is that you can:
- rip
- burn
- screen
- project
- fileshare
- YouTube
- SMS
- remix
- broadcast
...or pretty much everything you can't do with any other movie without breaking the law.
Not only can you do these things, but you can do them for profit. You can rent a hall and charge admission, you can duplicate your copy of the DVD and sell it to your friends, you can use the film as the basis of a new-age system of religious beliefs and become a televangelist, if that's what floats your boat.
Why would any filmmaker/production company/artist do this?
Breakdown Bootleg Edition is our way of honoring the do-it-yourself (DIY) culture that made Breakdown (and every other creative endeavor) possible. Instead of talking about what we owe to the DIY ethic we decided to demonstrate what can be done with it by giving up control of the film. In this way we're hoping to show that there is an alternative to the current "iron fist of copyright" way things are done.
So we're putting our film where our mouth is and if it works, we'll keep doing it.
To get your copy of Breakdown Bootleg Edition click the button below which will take you to PayPal. There you can purchase a copy using most major credit cards or your existing PayPal account.
If you prefer a more "old-school" approach you can purchase a copy of BBLE in-person at one of the events we're attending (we'll post notice on the website when these come up) or from the trunk of one of our cars if you happen to meet us on the street.
Eventually, you may also be able to get a copy soon from one of our customers who've taken the initiative to exploit their right to re-distribute the film. We'll provide a list of these folks below as soon as we hear from them (and if you are one of these guys, contact us and we'll add your "distro" to the list).
